The Bikes: A Rolling Exhibition of Two-Wheeled History
At the Calne Bike Meet, the town doesn’t just host a show; the town becomes the show. With thousands of motorcycles descending on our historic streets, you are guaranteed to see a variety of machinery that spans over a century of engineering.
From the roar of modern superbikes to the steady thrum of vintage classics, here is a taste of what you’ll find on display.
🏁 Classic & Vintage Icons
For many, the heart of the meet is found on The Green and in Castlefields Park. Calne has a deep connection to motorcycling history, and our visitors never disappoint.
- The British Legends: Expect to see rows of perfectly maintained Nortons, Triumphs, and BSAs.
- Early Pioneers: It isn’t uncommon to spot pre-war machines and early “flat-tankers” that look like they’ve just rolled out of a 1920s workshop.
- The Japanese Revolution: A massive showing of 70s and 80s “Universal Japanese Motorcycles” (UJMs), from the iconic Kawasaki Z1s to the legendary Honda CB series.
🛠️ Customs, Bobbers & Choppers
If you like chrome and creativity, the Market Square and High Street usually host some of the most unique custom builds in the UK.
- One-of-a-Kind Builds: From stretched-out choppers to stripped-back “rat bikes,” these machines are a testament to the skill and imagination of their owners.
- The Engineering Marvels: Keep an eye out for trikes of all shapes and sizes, and sidecar outfits that range from the rugged to the futuristic.
💨 Modern Performance & Superbikes
The sound of the 21st century echoes through the town centre as the latest performance bikes arrive.
- The Superbike Squad: The latest from Ducati, BMW, and Yamaha, showcasing the cutting edge of speed and technology.
- Adventure & Touring: Massive trans-continental cruisers and adventure bikes, often still covered in the dust from their latest long-distance journey.
🔋 The Future: Electric & Alternative
In recent years, we’ve seen a growing number of electric motorcycles joining the meet. Whether it’s the silent torque of a Zero or the futuristic lines of a LiveWire, the future of motorcycling is already finding a home in Calne.
📸 Capture the Moment
We encourage all visitors to bring their cameras! However, we do ask a few things to keep the day enjoyable for everyone:
- Look, but don’t touch: These bikes are the pride and joy of their owners. Please admire them from a respectful distance.
- Talk to the owners: Most riders are happy to chat about their machines, the history behind them, and the work they’ve put in.
- The Grand Finale: If you want to see these bikes in motion, make sure you are in the town centre for the Grand Ride-Out at 4:45 PM.
Are you bringing something special this year? There’s no need to register—just turn up early, follow the marshals’ instructions, and become part of the biggest free motorcycle display in the West!
