Ride Out

The ride out is an exciting time for the people lining the streets of Calne as that is when the town will rattle and vibrate to the sound of hundreds of motorcycles all warming up to roll out on an official ride out. The bikes all meet on the Porte Marsh industrial estate to ride though Calne giving a warm welcome to the passers by.

For 2015, 2016 and 2017 we were proud to have with our ride out with the support of the Unity Support Riders and we are very proud to have them back again for the 2018 event.

An escorted departure from the great town of Calne takes in a 40 minute loop around the local villages and towns of Wiltshire, taking in the sites of Avebury, will then see us winging our way back around to Calne via Royal Wootton Bassett.

Please make sure that you display your sticker once you have purchased your ride out ticket. We will be checking bikes this year before they leave on the ride out.

Calne Bike Meet – Ride out – Rider Briefing

  • The ride out is a marshaled event following a loop.

  • On the road Marshals will be wearing orange tabards stating Support Rider.
  • Do not overtake any marshal unless instructed to do so.
  • If a junction isn’t marked by a marshal or sign then continue straight ahead.

Ride safe and enjoy

No more than 500 motorcycles will be permitted to participate in the ride, which will be coordinated by a Chief Ride Out Marshal on behalf of the CBM Committee, and marshalled by the Unity Support Riders.
All motorcycles wishing to ride must be roadworthy and comply with the Road Traffic Act. They must hold a valid insurance policy, current MOT and tax, and remain the sole responsibility of the owner.
The ride will commence from Stanier Road on the Portemarsh Industrial Estate, close to the centre of Calne.
The assembled group will be briefed on the routed and riding etiquette by the Chief Ride Out Marshal.
Riders will be arranged into manageable groups with lead and rear marshals. Each group will leave a 5 minute intervals and will observe the tested ‘drop off’ system adopted by motorcycle clubs throughout the UK to mark the route for all the following riders.
At all times, speed limits will be strictly adhered to; at no point will any motorcyclist be allowed or encouraged to disobey any road or traffic signals. If following traffic builds to an excess, the ride will pull up and hold until the road clears.
If all timings are adhered to and the route remains clear, 500 motorcycles will complete the route within 1 hour and 50 minutes.
